He has been a student of Demetria Koninis for several years; before that he was taught by Grace Gao. Family acquaintance Bob Cafaro, a cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, has also been an encouraging and instructional influence. Under Demetria’s guidance, Jahanan has taken part in regional Suzuki Method workshops and in holiday music performances at area bookstores. Jahanan (and all of Demetria’s students) recently had the unforgettable experience of being invited backstage at the Albany Palace to personally meet and speak with Yo-Yo Ma. Jahanan first joined SSYO in 2010. As an SSYO member, he has been given the invaluable opportunity to study a distinctive, classical repertoire and to perform at a professional level.
